And So It Has Begun!

Up early to be ready for Lee to arrive and begin decorating. He got here at 8.15am, and set to work straight away. We had a struggle getting the blind down, which had been very securely fixed at the window when I had it installed last year - it’s really heavy, so I held up one end while he had several goes to undo the fixings at the other end.

I left at 9am to go and help Sheila set up for Thursday communion. When I got to St Luke’s Sheila had already done it, and was sitting with Liz and Anne-Marie about to do morning prayers, which I’ve never been to before. I joined them and it took about twenty minutes, with a small amount of liturgy, a couple of Psalms and readings, and prayer. I think I shall try and make the effort to go again sometimes. My main blip shows the beautiful Easter flowers in the window of the side chapel, the morning sun streaming in.

After our coffee and toasted teacake, I got some sandwiches and crisps from Tesco with Alison and we went round to hers to eat them in the sunshine in her garden and have a good natter. I got home at about three, and Lee had not long left having done all the prep and the first coat of paint on the ceiling, walls and all the woodwork. It’s looking so much better already (see Extras). He’d managed to do the second coat of emulsion around the window and put the blind back up on his own. I’d forgotten how wonderful it is to see fresh paint on everything. I phoned the carpet people to organise the fitters, and they’re now booked in for just under two weeks’ time. I also called my Wren wardrobes designer, and he’s going to check with their installation teams and see how soon they can come and put those in for me - it could be within three weeks, and then that will be the main bedroom finished! So excited!!!
