Horse Chestnut Candle

I have noticed that some horse chestnut trees have developed these huge flower ‘candles’ recently …and today I passed one with some at head height..rather than metres in the air..so today’s blip was sorted.

I also spotted some common hogweed stems ‘bursting’ to allow new leaves to emerge - a beautifully hairy specimen…see extra :- )

Sadly, no successful cat photos yet..they are not very ‘cooperative’, mostly staying hidden. Besides - they are both completely black so getting a useable shot is not easy. I have a couple of days before they go home..so have not given up hope yet!!
