Sorry picture.

At the January 1988 London Boat Show at Earls Court, I bought this German made Metzeler inflatable. It's been to the Lochs of Scotland, North Sea's Holy Island, Brittany's Atlantic, all around the coast of Greece, Croatia's Adriatic and sundry German lakes.

Mainly it's been used as a sailing boat! The quality of the sailing equipment is incredible but now the rubber Hypalon inflatable is suffering badly from poor storage & unwelcome mice. I have found someone about 150km away who is prepared to have a look at it. Prospects aren't good!

Metzeler was founded mid 19th C in Munich, based on rubber products including making first rigid balloons and developed into quite a large business including tyres. WWII and bombing in Munich led it to open a site in nearby Memmingen which still operates today in the field of foam cushioning eg for car seats. This part of the business is now owned by the UKs Vita Group. The rest of the organisation has been sold off to various companies, apparently the brand name is very strong in motorbike tyres but the inflatable boat brand is no more.
