Out and about

Started the day by not swimming, encouraged by a Zoe podcast I read during the night. After a few messages decided I will go to the funeral on Wednesday and stay the night in Aberdeen at K's.

It was a lovely sunny, if cooler, day. Took the bus to Lasswade. A man was hard at work painting the Victorian pillar box, one of the old style, a Penfold he said. (Being red means it's post 1874). He goes round the country doing this. What a cool job that is.

Met K in The Paper Mill beside the R Esk and had a good catch up over a cup of tea and for me a bacon roll. By the time I got back to the bus stop the painting was c0mpleted and the box looked very shiny. #31 bus back and then, after ordering Mum a new phone, a call to A at Bluebird about the mat at Mum's. Ended up driving down there and luckily J the carer was there so no we had a good chat about what was possible, not this mat.

The cloud had returned so hat was followed by an unsuccessful trip to Straiton to look for a yoga mat, the next plan. Spoke to Y, working outside, when I got back so lunch was very late but the wine had arrived.

There had been a few messages from my house guest and the plan was I'd her in town so I did some sewing until it was time to go.

It was great to see R again. It was a beautiful evening. She's been lucky with them weather. She decided on the Pakistani, Afghani restaurant which was not there best choice as it was dry but more critically she is gluten intolerant and the waiter didn't really understand the question about ingredients. The food was good.

We walked for the bus via the Grassmarket and the massage place where she'd left her rings. Home Willow was very welcoming and then we sat and talked till nearly midnight. That decision not to swim was the right one.
