Short eared owl
I found some birds foot trefoil on the machair today and it was going to be my wildflower blip. However later on I saw this lovely owl - a short eared one I think - and in the great northern diver in the extra. I don't think I've ever seen the diver before and although I've seen owls they are such a delight that it had to be the main.
The first walk was on one of the nearby beaches where there were a lot of people kite surfing. I nearly blipped the beach too - white sand and turquoise sea. And the flowers fringing the dunes. So beautiful.
Then over to Berneray via the causeway. The beach there provided the diver and a lot of noisy terns. And cowrie shells which R collects and I do too in a less determined way. We saw the owl on the way back to the house.
There's quite a gusty wind today. But it's dry. The house is warm. The jigsaw isn't progressing too well but I'll have another go soon.
We're eating at the pub tonight and Cameraman has kindly volunteered to drive.
