Stunned Oriole
Our concert last night was a lot of fun and dinner was delish. We got home an hour earlier than expected. I somehow bruised the bone on the bottom of my right foot. Not sure why I don’t take the time to put on my hiking boots when I walk in huge gravel stones. Boy it’s tender to any pressure. I hobbled all evening and today. It helped to wear two thick socks to cushion the heel area. At some point today, we were all inside and heard a thump. This poor oriole had hit the breakfast nook window and landed in the feeder. In a while, it was able to fly away. My first task was to dust the furniture and then we inventoried our freezer and snack cabinets. My sister and I developed a meal plan from our supplies. They will be here a week longer than hubby and me. We have to get back home for Chase’s 28 May graduation. We missed his 18th birthday on 30 April. My sister vacuumed. Hubby cut the grass that was wet from last night and this morning’s rain. He hated to do it but it was his last chance. Our BIL trimmed. We emptied the refrigerator of all leftovers for lunch. Not a bad meal. Hubby and I came to town for Mass. My sister and BIL will prepare dinner and pack their vehicle for the trip home tomorrow. She is washing all the last bits of laundry. I almost dread getting on the scales. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. Hoping your weekend is shaping up to be a nice one. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by.
“The Baltimore Oriole
O golden robin! pipe again
That happy, hopeful, cheering strain!
A prisoner in my chamber, I
See neither grass, nor bough, nor sky;
Yet to my mind thy warblings bring,
In troops, all images of Spring;
And every sense is satisfied
By what thy magic has supplied.
As by enchantment, now I see,
On every bush and forest-tree,
The tender, downy leaf appear,—
The loveliest robe they wear.” - Thomas Hill
