Greyborg
Weather forecast told me it was only going to be sunny in the morning so I decided to go for a walk at "Gråborg" and old ruin of a castle or defence building from about 400 AD. Its size implies it was also used as a market place in times of peace. It's huge. The castle walls enclose 210X160 meters and the walls were 4-7 metres high.
I go there, not to be impressed by old times way of living, imagine an island filled with Trump-like chiefs, all controlling their small community by fear, vengeance and with their own little army of men with sharp weapons. I go there because of the landscape the working man, the farmers and craftsmen created. They put stone-fences up to keep their cattle where they were safe and broke new land where all the rocks had been. That landscape is still there, kept alive by todays society and protected by law.
It's wonderful to walk around in this timeless nature, groves, fields, old houses, birds, cows and sheep all over. This old bridge, probably built by the time the castle was built, is still functioning. Modern farmers drive their tractors over them and they keep the water where it's supposed to be. I took the long trail today, because it was such a wonerful morning. Brought coffee and sandwiches and walked slowly for two hours, about nine km. That filled my batteries for a long time. You can learn more about the "castle" in english here.
