Winter Winds . . . Mumford & Sons
This morning the forester went off with son to help him pick up parts of a bed that needed to be carried by two people. Us girls had a lazy sit around. Later we three drove out to Makara which is on the west coast at the end of a twisting road. It is only thirty minutes from the city but couldn't be more different. Wind swept with a deep shingle beach. There are a few batches/weekend houses in varying states of repair and a delightful cafe. We had toasted sandwiches/grilled cheese and coffee. Next was a stop at the West Wind Farm which is dramatically on ridges across farm land and near cliffs overlooking the coast. It was invigorating being out in the wind and hearing the noise of this turbine.
Later in the afternoon we went to Finn's house for an early dinner. Finn played hungry hippos with TLD and I and he can count how many little balls his hippo has gobbled. Next we were summoned upstairs to play in his bedroom. He held us hostage and we weren't allowed downstairs until his dinner was on the table. It was fun and he has wonderful language. Now we are back in our motel and he can have a bath and settled down and be in bed early ready for his first day at school. tomorrow.
