JUNIOR PROM
Last night was the local high school's Junior Prom. It times past, it was a teen's introduction to society and a first formal dance. It remains a first formal dance for 99% of most students while Friday, after-the-game dances have pretty much faded into the background in deference to student's addiction to social media.

Yet the Junior Prom is still a BIG DEAL in most American high schools and our school is no exception. Most schools elect a King by vote among his fellow Juniors and his date to the dance becomes the Queen. Together, they reign over the week's festivities.

Our school does things differently. King and Queen are voted on by the entire student body as the school is small and they need the entire student body to participate in the dance. The vote takes place during the week but the royalty are not revealed until the dance night itself.

This year's King is in the back row far right side (pink bow tie); the Queen is in the front row first on the left (light pink dress).

There is a Post Prom Party sponsored by locals where there's food, games, all sorts of activities and giveaway prizes to keep the kids entertained all night long. I'm not sure, but I believe it goes until 05:00 hrs. It's an attempt to keep them occupied and not driving around, getting drunk and possibly getting in an accident.
