And also, the White Spotted Bluethroat...!

Janet and I nipped up to WWT Slimbridge, on the off chance we might see the bluethroat - and we did! Not gonna lie, though, it was a bloody long way away. 

The extra has had every scrap of detail wrung out of it, but it's only really a memory shot - almost a painting of the bird. 

Still, you can see the blue throat, and the white spot. For extra information, it has a slightly yellow rump too. It's the fifth year in succession this bird has taken up summer residence in Slimbridge. 

The guess is it got blown off course en route southern to northern mainland Europe in 2020, and got into the habit of returning. 

Perhaps it doesn't want a mate... there's not likely to be one anywhere nearby!  

For the better shot, the main is of a black tailed godwit (I think).
