Family
Today we drove over to Wirksworth in Derbyshire to meet up with my aunt June, her son Mark, and his son Samuel. On the way we took a break for an hour at Carsington Reservoir, which gave Django at least the chance to get some exercise. It was important to see June, since it's two years since we last did so (at my mum's funeral), her husband died about three weeks ago, and her mind is going. I have little contact with Mark, and last time we saw 18-y-o Samuel he was about 3! Hence there was a little anxiety over how well it would go.
We met at the Malt Shovel - down the road from where June lives - and it was great! There's never silence for long with Mark around, and Samuel seems to have inherited the trait! It was also good to spend time with June, but I wonder how she'll be, even if I see her again.
Mark drove daughter L to get a London train from Derby, and we began the long drive back to Edinburgh.
