Sun and cloud
Sunday
It was quite a cool start to the day, and once again, grey and overcast, but our morning at church helped lift our spirits. Our choir director, Michael, was still out of town, and normally Gloria, our handbell director, would stand in for him, but as I mentioned on Thursday, she had a stroke last Monday, so instead we had Jeff from the Praise band stand in - he apparently once had been a band director a number of years ago. In Bible study after service, we are between books, and were looking at a passage in Deuteronomy. R went to the gym in the afternoon, and I managed to fit in a neighbourhood walk after some more showers. We had to eat early again this evening, as we were going out to another musical event. Our wonderful church organist, pianist and cellist, Tom, had told us at practice on Thursday that he was playing this evening in a performance of John Rutter’s Requiem at Mount Washington Presbyterian church, another Cincinnati neighbourhood. I love Rutter’s music, and especially the Requiem, so I was very interested. The cello has quite a prominent role in the piece, especially one of the movements, where he has a solo, so it was lovely to hear Tom play it. The choir was actually a combined choir with another neighbouring church, and a couple of excellent guest soloists.
For my blip, the late afternoon contrast between sunlight and dark clouds caught my eye, so I thought it could serve as my blip. It also shows how very green our grass is currently with all the rain we’ve been having!
