Gently down the stream

Breakfast

On my rather speedy walk this morning I simply shot the birds I saw and didn't try any clever waiting around for something wonderful to appear from the bushes.  I didn't even go down to the pond, just the bare circuit, but on it I caught the blackbird beating the shell off a snail before consumption (poor snail) and the robin trying to swallow a very long worm for his breakfast.  In fact I'm not sure if the latter ever succeeded, but I guess he did.

So, yes, I got my early start and arrived home for my own breakfast (muesli only, you might be glad to hear) just as the builders were beginning to heave equipment over the garden wall.  They made a great start, disappearing at about 10 for half and hour and then - as in my experience builders will - disappearing again at about 12.30 and not coming back.  Ah well, I guess they'll be here in the morning.  And I wouldn't mind if only they'd say!  Rather hilariously the boss found 4 frogs (or was it toads, he was a bit hazy) under one of the water butts.  He has taken them home to put in his pond ;))

A quiet afternoon, hoping the guys would return.  Very peaceful.  I cooked and read.  So that's the tale of my Bank Holiday.

Enjoy your evening, all  xx
