Sunset ….

Another dry day but still a chilly NE breeze .
First job was to bring in a cow that had calved during the night. Her calf not looking like living . Tubed it with some powdered colostrum, put them in a pen and will see what happens.
Left Kev on mucking out and bedding while I went next door to manufacture some cows and calves before putting them out to a field. The cows got their annual BVD vaccination, and a couple of magnesium bolus down their throats to help prevent grass staggers. They didn’t argue going up to their field and had a good run around when they got there, obviously happy to be going out .Always good to watch at this time of year.
By tonight this morning’s calf was deceased, so skinned it and put the skin onto one of the bottle calves and gave it a suck off the cow in the crush. Then put them in the pen and see if she takes it . Fingers crossed.
A wee trip down to put flowers on the graves tonight. Had a wander round the cemetery and pointed out former employees, local worthy’s, and folk I knew to Mrs F. Hope it’s a while before I join them though !
Took the dogs a wee walk to check the cows tonight . There was a bonny sunset but it was still no heatwave….
