In the spirit..

.. of the day. In The Mall today. Actually I was surprised how little ‘dressing up’ there was today, far less than on other special occasions. Today of course was a day of remembrance and celebration. Thursday’s service will be far more serious and reflective.
War is terrible.

It was good to be with the crowds today to celebrate VE80. We started at Trafalgar Square and had a good view of the parade coming up Whitehall to The Mall. We were allowed into The Mall in sections although not in a very fair way. Our section seemed to be forgotten and we only just got under Admiralty Arch before the fly past happened!

After that the crowds soon dispersed. We walked to Buckingham Palace then ate our sandwiches in St James’s Park before heading for Victoria Station and home. Short and sweet really but happy to have made the choice to be there today.
