Skinks

I was surprised to see this pair of skinks, one holding the other by the shoulder in its jaws. A little research later, and I'm almost certain that this is mating behaviour, the male biting the female. Had it not been for me hovering over them, then along side them with the camera, they might have got on with it.

I find that the faces of reptiles don't give away what they're thinking or feeling. They are inscrutable. Even seeing their eyes. I couldn't tell if either of them was having fun. I was hoping for another shot but he let her go. I think I broke up a fantastic skinky love affair.

No pink as per the subtheme, unless the skinks were tickled pink. Instead I love the silver of the female against the bronze of the male.

Thanks for hosting Pinkhairedlady.
