U3A Veggie food group
Mr C’s brother in law arrived for coffee at 8.50, calling in before his day of golf at the course here. I left them to it while I finished the Lucy Mangan book. Now I’m re-reading Experience by Martin Amis which is Marian’s book group choice.
At 1 the Veggie food group arrived. Left to right - Judith, Alison, Dorothy, Ali and Suzie. The theme was Italian and much better than yesterday’s lunch. Alison did a tasty bruschetta with haricot beans and lemon on one and a pepper puree and olives on the other. Judith’s was roasted peppers layered with mozzarella and egg custard. Dorothy did a macaroni and spinach thing, Suzie made a pizza and Ali did orzo and tomatoes. My pudding was Nigella’s limoncello iced berries topped with a sauce of cream, limoncello and white chocolate. Suzie asked if I’d made my own limoncello! I nearly said I’d made the white chocolate.
It was a beautiful sunny and warm day but we ate inside as Dorothy said it was draughty. The chat was about Dorothy’s recent walking holiday near Alston and the awful room she’d had in the hotel, Alison’s trip in Spain when there was no electricity, our Co-op having no food as there had been a cyber-attack, best bread recipes, and that’s about it. It’s funny how the ambiance can change with just one person’s input.
I spoke to the duty GP about the medication and she advised me to keep taking it but only 1 tablet 3 times a day and 2 at night. I rang the Nuffield about a private scan which would cost £596 and the wait is around 2-3 weeks after a GP referral so by the time that happens I’ll be gone on holiday anyway and even might get the NHS one around then.
We are waiting for a person to come to do an estimate for conservatory blinds and then FaceTime with Chloe and Graham.
