Common Buckeye...

I spotted this beauty while I was walking at Kanapaha Botanical gardens this morning. Fletcher, aka The Big White Dog, stayed home. Just because I needed a break from him. Long story, maybe later...
The Common Buckeye's, Junonia coenia, range covers much of North America and some of Central America. Here in North Central Florida their host plants include; plantains, toadflax, false foxglove and certain plants in the Ruellia species like the native Florida Ruellia caroliniensis. They also use American blue hearts, Frogfruit, and Oblongleaf twinflower. Being fortunate to see a Common Buckeye butterfly serves to remind us to accept change and to find beauty in all stages of life.
