A Royal Day

Again, the weather was beautiful as we toured the grounds of Balmoral Castle and the exhibition  in the ballroom which focused on King Charles’ vision for the gardens. I loved the sunken garden and I added a picture of the blue poppy.  Not quite open but the color matched the sky.  There is a photo of the Queen and her family in front of the castle in 1960 from a nice display of family photographs in the cafe. Lunch in the village of Ballater and then on to the Cambus O’May iron suspension bridge built in 1905.  We saw salmon jumping for flies which pleased Henry. The clouds were drifting in when we got to the Tomaverie Stone Circle with its famous recumbent stone.  This kind of Neolithic stone circle is only found in northeast Scotland.  Finally we stopped at the Queen’s View where Henry pointed out the spectacular scenery. (Where he got the gold coach I didn’t ask.) Tomorrow is a much slower paced day and I’m looking forward to meeting two blip pals for lunch.
