Sea and bees
I popped into Seaton after lunch so Ziggy and I could have a walk by the sea - it's been too hot to take him recently and the pavements could burn his feet so I've been sticking to early and late walks in the fields.
There was hardly anyone about either on the beach or the esplanade.
When I returned home the window cleaner was there. He seems so young that it looks as though he's skipped school to earn some money! However he's very good and extremely polite. He told me there were bees buzzing around one of the gable windows and asked if he could he get up there to have a look because he's a bee keeper, and if they were honey bees he could move them. I sorted out our long ladder and up he went, but he wasn't able to get close enough. So off he went back to his house and returned about 15 minutes later with a longer ladder and also his bee keeping suit just in case. I must admit that I was quite worried about him because he looks so young and he was scrambling about on the roof with bees buzzing around him (he didn't put his suit on). Anyway, to cut a long story short, they were masonry bees and he said they're fine, just sending a few drones out to investigate. He was talking to the bees all the time when he was on the roof, reassuring them that he meant them no harm. At one point he mentioned his father in law so he must be married! I still think he looks like a schoolboy. I asked him how much I owed him and he looked amazed. "Nothing, all part of the bee service"
