A view from Jeanneb

Blue yonder!

We have travelled north in lovely weather today making pit stops at Tebay services for brunch (where as usual we saw our first ducklings) and Annandale Water for coffee.
Then we headed off the motorway across Ayrshire first to Maidens on the coast and then Culzean Castle where I took this picture looking out to the Isle of Arran from the castle terrace. It’s our third visit here and this time it was really just for a convenient place for toilets and tea and cake. It’s National Trust for Scotland so we get in with free with our English NT membership. It is in a beautiful setting and well worth a visit.

We are now in our accommodation in Troon. It is a magnificent house and we have a huge room that would accommodate 4! There are alpacas in the garden.
It was formerly the home of the Dowager Duchess of Portland!
Shame we’re only here for one night.

We changed our booking to Troon as our ferry to Arran was cancelled from Ardrossan. I was quite excited as there is a new ferry running from here, our son was on it last week but we have discovered we’re on the old Catamaran ferry on loan from Pentland ferries. We’ve probably been on it to Orkney some years ago.
We’ll shortly be heading to Prestwick for something to eat. Our host has recommended we don’t go into Troon tonight as it’s a 10K road race from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm and she’s says it will be chaos. She’s participating! Good luck to her!
