Fun with Fíonn

It's over six years since we last saw our godson Fíonn when he was playing in one of his final year shows at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Since then he has graduated and worked as an actor/singer all over the world.

Currently Fíonn is part of the entertainment crew on the Volendam. He was in Edinburgh today because the Volendam is the first cruise ship of the season to call in at South Queensferry this year. Fíonn spent the morning playing tourist, then met us in Princes Street Gardens at lunchtime. He treated us to lunch at the Red Cockerel café, then we walked him to the Dome to catch the bus with other people from the cruise back to the port. It was wonderful to spend some time Fíonn. He is such a delightful and generous young man, and had so much to tell us about life on board a cruise ship.

The other hot news of the day is that my piece in The Conversation has now been published. It's a tie-in with VE Day that makes reference to the academic work that we completed on Lorna Lloyd's war diary in Blipfoto and podcast formats.

I have taken the plunge and switched over my winter wardrobe for my summer garb.

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; aquafit class; swim (20 lengths); strength training class; walking (~14.5k steps).
