80th anniversary of VE day

Mummy hazelh's care home was all decked out for the 80th anniversary of VE Day today. When I first arrived, many of the residents were watching the television coverage of today's commemorations in the larger sitting room. My own wee contribution to the marking of the date was a post to my blog at http://hazelhall.org

Mummy hazelh and I spent the day in the small sitting room. I showed her our photos from the Haltwhistle walking festival and we watched some classical music on the iPlayer. After lunch another Hazel joined us - a 90 year old resident who, unlike many of the others, is still mentally very much on the ball and likes to chat. Although she didn't say so, I got the impression that Mummy hazelh would have preferred to have me all to herself rather than share me with another old lady.

There was chaos for trains leaving and arriving at Newcastle Central station this evening. This was due to 'trespassers on the line'. In this case the 'trespasser' was a single drunken man threatening to throw himself off a bridge. Happily he was brought down from his perch and the trains were able to run again. My own train was over 30 minutes late into Waverley.

I was ready for a hot chocolate on the sofa and Race across the world when I reached home.

Exercise today: walking (21,306 steps).
