Life through the lens...

Post card from Barmouth

An excellent journey to Barmouth, Wales.
No holdups on the M62/M60/M6.and a delightful journey through the Welsh countryside, on roads we have not been on before.
A picnic lunch by Lake Bala. Another first for us.
See extra pic. of walking the dog.

The weather is glorious. We stopped in the town to have a look round and view the magnificent bridge across the estuary.
I have always wanted to see it.
The idea was to take the ferry across to the other side and walk back across the bridge.
However the ferry didn’t drop us at the bridge, and when we realised how far it would be decided to catch the ferry back again.
MrC still isn’t 100% and didn’t want to make his leg worse. Plus the fact our carpark ticket expired in 90 mins.

Our hotel, just outside the town, is called The Ty’r Graig Castle.
Built by a wealthy industrialist as a holiday home back in 1892.
Although it has been modernised, it still retains the elegance and style of the Victorian era. Stained glass windows, wood panelling and highly decorated tiled floors in the entrance.
The view of Cardigan Bay is spectacular.

The collage is of the bridge, the ferry and the view from our balcony.
Certainly a good start to our holiday in Wales.
Tomorrow we move on to Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, where we are staying for a week.
