The last of the bluebells
I was very pleased to find out this morning that Gavin had a really good night's sleep - nothing like sleeping well in your own bed.
Today has been very busy - I walked Xena, then got back in time to take Gavin to the local practice nurse so she could change his dressing. She says it is looking fine despite to two small weeping areas, and she will see him again tomorrow. Then I dashed off to get groceries, I needed to buy suitable foods for Gavin's low fibre diet - and some things to fatten him up, he has lost nearly 10kg! Luckily things like custard and chocolate mousse have no fibre in them :)
After I unpacked all the groceries it was time to go up to London to the radiology centre for Gavin's PET scan. Luckily there was not much traffic so it was a much better drive there than expected, and only took 45 minutes. However the parking was a problem as the parking garage we had found, next to the radiology centre, actually only took pre-booked parkings. I drove in and parked before I realised that. When I tried to book and pay it was said to be full. I took Gavin to the radiology place and checked him in and then when he was taken off I went back and moved the car to another parking garage near Sloane Square. These parking garages are very small and cramped, I could barely drive Gavin's wide car down the ramp.
The PET scan involves injecting a radioactive dye into a vein through a cannula, waiting about an hour for it to move around the body and then doing the scan. It determines other possible cancer cells in the body. As I had some time to wait I took a few tubes across town to get back to Vauxhall to go to Fixation to get my camera sensor cleaned as it very badly needed it. Usually they can do it in an hour but not today, so I need to go back to fetch my camera another day.
After about 2 hours Gavin was ready to be collected so I got the car from the parking garage and drove back to the radiology centre to collect him. We had awful traffic going home, the journey took twice as long, over an hour and a half. There was so much traffic with motorbikes and cycles weaving in and out of the the cars. We also got caught up in a huge crowd of Chelsea supporters going off to support their team tonight.
Gavin was feeling exhausted when he got home and was hungry as he was not allowed to eat since 8am this morning. I quickly scrambled an egg for him - he eats very small amounts a few times a day. Inca arrived as her written exams are finished - she still has the viva voce exam next week. It was lovely to see her again.
No time to cook supper so I ordered pizzas for them and Gavin and I had chicken, his with mashed potato and mashed butternut.
I am dreading the results of the PET scan.
