An evening with Kate Adie

I went with some friends earlier to Axminster Guildhall where there was "An evening with Kate Adie - Women on the home front in the Second World War".
It was an excellent evening. It began with a local lady singing some well known songs from the war era. She's a superb singer and a lovely lady (I do know her). She's the resident singer at a large Devon hotel, but also performs once a month at the nursing home where my husband is.
Kate Adie then came on and talked for the first part of her session, and answered questions for the second half. She was such an interesting speaker and seems like the sort of person who you could spend hours just chatting to. She came across as being very kind and caring too and far more likeable than when she has her professional on-screen reporter hat on.
She's a actually quite deaf (from birth) so all the questions addressed to her had to be repeated to her by someone on the stage.
We bought the tickets quite a while ago and I'm so pleased we did as I know lots of people who were disappointed that they couldn't get tickets because they were sold out.
