VE 80 - Cheltenham Promenade
While the nation marked two minutes’ silence at noon Cheltenham preferred the traditional 11th hour - so I arrived just as the short service was ending! A local nursery had brought some toddlers to join the commemoration. I thought this was a very special and poignant involvement.
This evening Bells rang. Beacons were lit.
And in Rome white smoke heralded the election of Pope Leo XIV.
