Kirby

Twenty years ago today, this guy, Kirby, walked into our backyard and stayed. The next twelve years were probably the best twelve years of our lives. He led us on so many adventures, hiking in the high Cascades, hanging around the garden, and swimming in the North and South Umpquas, the Deschutes, the Calapooya, the Columbia, the Pacific, although he had a mistrust of the ocean. Too much movement, I guess. He had his schedule: walk at 5:30 AM,cheese sticks at 10:00, pickup ride in the afternoon. Everyone claims that their dog is the best dog ever, but the claim starts and ends right here. He’s been gone eight years, and there has not been a day I have not missed him. Thanks to our friend Paula for her amazing paintings of good old Kirby. See you on the other side, Kirb.

Thank you all for your stars, hearts, and comments for yesterday’s blip on Katie. I sent her the link, and she was very moved by your response. Thank you.
