Arnhem

Arrived Arnhem in the afternoon. Avoided the highway from Cloppenburg, drove in sunny warm open roof weather through a lovely flowering land in Spring. Visited the John Frost bridge in the city, where lieutenant colonel John Dotton Frost led 750 English paratroopers in a battle against nazi Germans September 1944, and suffered a painful loss. The bridge in Arnhem bears today his name. L ( Mrs B) by wreaths laid to remember and tribute the Liberation Day 80 years ago, May 5th1945 in Arnhem and the Netherlands. The Liberation Day in my country is celebrated May 8th.
