Sick, you say?
The day started early once again – and while there is an improvement in the general health of the patient, he is still not well. Decided pretty early again – when the coughing started getting more “croupey” that another visit to the doctor was required. I know it is a truism but life really does get on hold when one of us is sick.
Anyway, as is often the case, the cough subsided – just not quickly enough for us to get out of the appointment. So, along to the doctor went a much-improved boy. She was very reassuring and re-examined him; then she re-examined me and told me to never darken her doorstep again. Actually, she might have said it was better to be safe than sorry, but I could read the sub-text. He was worse when I called, honestly…
Came home to expand my use of the tajine – this time with vegetables only. Onion/garlic, sweet potato, potato, carrots, dates – lightly sautéed and in the oven for 50 minutes at 300°F. Cooked in broth, with a touch of harissa paste, some raz el hanout, salt & pepper – came out really well. At least, I think it did. The merguez I cooked on the stovetop (to not contaminate Mrs. Ottawacker’s tastebuds) were so spicy everything else was lost.
