Drooping bluebells
We had a fairly lazy day after our long day and late night yesterday. But we did both manage a short stint in the garden.
Half a dozen or so bluebells have randomly sprung up in the composting area. There are lots more on the ditch but they're behind the fence, safe, and lovely. The ones in the compost area are in considerable danger of being trampled/smothered. So this morning, I decided I really needed to dig them up and replant elsewhere. Not very successfully. Managed to find just three bulbs. Most were just so deep I couldn't rescue them from among the many roots of the surrounding trees. In the process, I ended up with three bluebell stems, so I popped them in some water. They won't last long, but at least they're not totally discarded.
The three bulbs I did recover I replanted down on our roadside ditch, and will buy some bulbs in the autumn to add to them.
W made some progress in protecting our veggies from the birds and (for the brassicas) the butterflies.
In the evening, we went to a concert. The Defence Forces Band were playing at the SETU Arena. Joined by a local Waterford band, who played at the beginning, and in the extra, joined together for the finale. A good evening.
