The Goodwick mosaics.
After a lie in and a relaxing morning we went for Sunday lunch at the Rose and Crown, Goodwick.
What a superb lunch. Both chose Welsh lamb. 7 seasonal veg. mashed and roast potatoes.
The Yorkshire puddings were huge and perfect. The chef said he had been taught how to make them by a Yorkshire lady!
These three sets of beautiful mosaics are set into the pavement along the sea front.
Created in 2019, depicting the history of Fishguard/Goodwick to revitalise the sea front area.
Put together by a community project involving various local groups. It took them 2 weeks of workshops.
They show the Last Invasion of Britain 1797.
1st successful flight from Britain to Ireland, made from Goodwick Harbour in April 1912, by Denys Corbett Wilson, flying a Bleriot XI.
First ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare in 1906.
Filming of Moby Dick and Under Milk Wood ( as I mentioned yesterday).
After lunch it was then on to visit Garn Wen. 3 Buriel Chambers dating from the Neolithic period 4000-2500 BC. Just like many we have seen in Cornwall.

Nearby the British Gas’s Beacon. Tips of the metal frame work look like gas flames.
Then to Strumble Head and the lighthouse above the cliffs. Narrow one track road. Couldn’t believe it when a holiday coach came towards us.
Fortunately we’re able to pull in to a field gateway .
Again reminded us of The Lizard. Even the same wild flowers, and we watched two seals bobbing about in a cove. ( extras)
It has been bright but dull, temp 18C.
Started raining just as we got back.
Haven’t seen rain for such a long time!
Another full enjoyable day. Great to explore new places.
