What a Day!!

Well today was pretty eventful for a Sunday. We had our bi-monthly Café Church service in the extension hall, which is very informal. People who come along are offered tea, coffee, fruit juice, yoghurt with fresh fruit salad, and pastries. It was well attended this morning, with some new people being welcomed. After this, we had our Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Despite having said I didn’t want to be on the PCC (church committee), I now find myself on it. It helps that my friends Linda and Sue are also new PCC members, and as they volunteered I sort of jumped in with them. Once all that was over and done with, I went over to Linda’s to borrow a power screwdriver from her husband, and he gave me some better quality screws to replace the rubbish ones that came with the brass doorstop. I’d trashed the heads on them all trying to get them fully into the skirting board, which I had failed to do. He also lent me a better bradawl. So I’ve now re-fixed the doorstop and am pleased to report that the job’s a good’un.

After a quick lunch, and with more enthusiasm for DIY than yesterday, I cleaned the outside of the bedroom door, took the handle and finger plate off, gave it a light sand, put masking tape onto the floor and hinges, and set about painting it. I didn’t bother covering up much of the carpet, as it’s going in a skip on Wednesday, but actually I didn’t make any mess at all. See Extras for a photo of the entrance to the main bedroom with it all decorated, including my freshly done handiwork on the door. The wall the door opens onto is where the fitted wardrobes are going to be installed at the end of the month.

Having cleaned the brushes and changed out of my work clothes, I am now quite tired and am having a quiet evening on the sofa.

I noticed the Viburnum is now out in the garden, so that’s my main blip with the gorgeous blue sky beyond it.
