The colours of spring
Today has been a good day. Gavin is getting stronger, eating more and generally coping very well. I still don't like changing his dressing in the morning it looks a bit too weepy to me but the nurse will check it tomorrow.
It was lovely to have Luke here. Last night I made a prawn risotto which we all enjoyed - Gavin had a small portion but the smooth rice from constant stirring for half an hour was ideal for him to eat. Gavin went to bed and Luke and I watched the end of This City is Ours on BBC, what an excellent drama series.
Today was sunny and bright all day. I went to Waitrose to collect a Click and Collect order from John Lewis as I had ordered Gavin some loose, drawstring trousers, just what he needs with his abdominal scar which runs into his waistband. He came with me for the drive and I stopped off to get a photo of the river which is looking very lush with all the greenery.
Friends came to visit for a coffee and chat. J is a professor at the Institute of Cancer Research and she works with the oncologist who Gavin has been referred to, so she was telling us about him and his area of speciality.
After lunch Luke left to play golf with a friend, and we had a relaxing afternoon. Gavin is trying to be helpful around the house, emptying the dishwasher etc. as he is not used to sitting around and doing nothing, so I have to keep nagging him to just sit and do nothing.
