As the forecast indicated rapidly rising temperatures I took hound for a quick walk before breakfast.
Fed neighbour's cats on return then fed hound.
Caught up with a few chores after breakfast, handwashing and cleaned the hob. Did a bit of garden clearing.
Sat outside reading after lunch. A neighbour loaned me Imperial Mud, The Fight for the Fens by James Boyce. It's about the resistance of the Fennish people to drainage and enclosure of the East Anglian Fens which endured for hundreds of years. Living in East Anglia we often hear how virtuous Vermuyden was for encouraging drainage of the Fens. This account sees him as seeking an opportunity for personal gain along with rich landowners at the expense of the Fennish whose lives and livelihoods were closely allied to this landscape. Often the land fought back. It's certainly an enlightening read.
Lasagne for dinner again. Compliments from Mr who said 'it turned out very well'. I have been making lasagne for many years but I will take the compliment.
Discovered hound had been a tad naughty. He'd chewed a few corners of pages in Mr's paperback. Poor Kyro has been a bit restless today.
Pleasant evening everyone.
