Poppy

Having done a Poppy bud the other day I felt I should follow up with the flower.  We have what must be approaching 100 buds but each flower doesn't last very long so carpe diem.  Being red the colour hasn't rendered quite correctly but it isn't far off.

Another day of sunshine so more pottering about in the garden doing jobs that are well overdue.  We were entertained by a male House Sparrow.  It is taking over one of the House Martin nest boxes, I am not pleased about that but its antics were amusing.  It would go into the box stay for 15-30 seconds come out flutter in front of the window about 45 cm (18") away and then back into the box.  Repeat ad nauseam.  The only suggestion we have come up with is it kept seeing its reflection and was "defending" the nest site.
