Eating - various

We have had a few walks in Glen Affric today, starting in warm sunshine (hooray) but ending in cloudy rain (boo).

My Blip is of Butterwort,  an insectivorous plant that was growing where the ground was poor. It survives tough places by catching and absorbing nutrients from insects that get stuck on its yellow green leaves.
I really struggled to get the petals in focus with my point and shoot phone camera. The one on the lower right is just about there.

My first extra is of Cowberry, also known as Lingonberry and other names. I loved its beautiful little flowers. I'm more familiar with eating Lingonberry in Sweden made by Jan and Keith.

My second extra is looking along Loch Affric into the mountains. Delicious!

We wanted to come here to see the regeneration of the natural Scots Pine forest, and we met a couple who were very informative.  The man used to work in forestry here, and told us that they had been protecting trees since the 1950s.  This is longer than any other area, but it doesn't get the same recognition as it is so remote. It has a single track road for 10 miles, and then you have to hike.
The couple had done a circuit of the Loch (12 miles) and said they do this often as it is so beautiful, but it would be the last time as the midges are due soon. More eating but totally unwanted!
