Setting up a robot
These robot lawn-mowers take a bit of setting up. A wire needs to be buried around the lawn so the mower knows when to stop and turn around. Another wire goes from the far side of the lawn back to the charging unit, the base. That's what I'm burying here. The mower uses this wire to find it's way home when it needs a charge.
When I got it all connected and turned the mower on it was a satisfying moment as it cruised away from its dock and set off across the lawn. When it reached the edge it stopped, backed up a little, turned itself around and set of at a new angle. It was less satisfying as we set out for Rose's and it was sitting in the middle of the lawn with it's tiny screen telling me; "No loop found". I was pretty sure the problem was the final connection I made but since we were on our way out I just returned it to base so it would be fully charged when I sort out the problem tomorrow.
We had a lovely evening with Rose. Indeed I wondered about blipping her carrots steaming in the sunlight in a rather lovely way. In the end it became an extra.
