Monkshood
I enjoyed hearing the commentary last night from the judge on our camera club exhibition entries. He spoke about at last one image for every person who had submitted images for the exhibition, and then some were awarded highly commended, 3rd, 2nd and 1st place per club class for both prints and PDIs. He was an excellent judge but seemed to favour more abstract kind of images, there were some outstanding wildlife images that did not do well and of course my landscapes also did not get any awards - except for coming 3rd in the PDIs for my class. However I was pleased to find out that one of my images got a high score at a recent regional Surrey Photographic society competition, the highest for our club.
I took Gavin back to the nurse today for a dressing change and the wound looks a little better so she held off prescribing antibiotics. He is seeing the surgeon tomorrow for a post surgery check up so he can give his opinion on the state of the wound. He is still tired and but doing okay so far.
On my walk with Xena in the woods I saw this monkshood - also known as aconite, wolfsbane, leopard's bane, devil's helmet, or blue rocket. It is usually highly poisonous.
Every summer I have two exhibitions that I enter, one for my camera club that starts next month, and another one at our social club which runs a photography section. Tonight is the opening night of the latter exhibition, and we had booked to go to the exhibition and then eat supper at the club afterwards. I cancelled the dinner and don't think we will go although Gavin says he is keen to see it as all he has to do is walk around a room looking at photos - I will see how he feels later, it may be too much for him.
