St Dyfnog's Parish Church, Llanrhaeadr

TUESDAY

I took the car over to the Ford dealership at Pentre Llanrhaeadr this morning to have a new intake pipe fitted for the turbo. They didn’t charge for labour,  but the small moulded plastic part still set me back £119. Ouch!

The old pipe had a hairline crack that had been upsetting the engine management sensors. I now think the crack had been there for some time and I just hadn’t noticed the slow dip in performance. What a difference now the new pipe’s in place!

Whilst the car was in the garage, I took a walk into the village and had a wander round St Dyfnog’s Parish Church and up to the holy well (see extra).

According to tradition, St Dyfnog lived by the spring in the 6th century. The well later became famous for its healing properties, and by the late Middle Ages it was one of the most renowned holy wells in Wales—drawing plenty of pilgrims.

Back home by 10:00 and got stuck into some prep and painting in the kitchen and utility room.

Then out to the bowling club for this afternoon’s match against East Parade. They’re a relatively new side and having a tough season.

The fast, parched green today didn’t do them any favours. We had ten winners out of ten and picked up another two points for the aggregate. I won my own game 21–4.
