Wild Flowers

I started the day by getting the bedding washed and in the line. The wooden staging in my greenhouse is way past it's shelf life and I've decided to dispose of it and replace it with a long plastic table and a  storage box underneath. The legs are rotting and it's become unstable, not good in a greenhouse!. The previous owner must have had it built to fit, so at c8ft long I knew I couldn't lift it out. So first thing I sawed it in half and got it out in two segments. Then I drove over to the gardens at Natural Surroundings. I decided to focus on the (often tiny) wild flowers that are emerging and would make a nice collage. Another gloriously sunny day and thankfully not as hot as yesterday. After lunch I alternated sitting reading in the garden and starting to break up the wooden staging. Something being well built is great during its life, but is hard work to dismantle!

The blue tits in the nest are now looking more like young chicks than hatchlings. They' seem so much more comfortable now the temperature is more bearable. This evening instead of flopping outside the nest bowl with beaks open to cool down, they're all huddled together and ready to sleep - but soon wake up when a bedtime snack is delivered!.
