Pansies

I walked into town first thing as I had to go to the Post Office. Back home I carried on dismantling the wooden greenhouse staging - all done now, just got to dispose of it. I went into the garden after I'd finished this afternoon for a blip - I was horrified to find the camera bird box hanging off the wall, just held by the camera cable. I knew it wouldn't hold for long, so I had to risk intervening. The wall plug holding the box to the wall was out - goodness knows what had happened (and no, it wasn't me that installed it!). I obviously couldn't open it up to fix the box back on properly as the parents would abandon the nest. So I rigged up a temporary fix of a wedged bit of trellis with a wedged plastic container on top and the bird box wedged on that (I did put some filler in the wall hole and slotted the fixing back in). I don't have much hope that it'll hold for the next 10 days or so until they fledge, but I'll check it morning and evening and at least I'll have tried to help. I've checked on the camera and the parents are feeding the fledglings in a bigger nest bowl (bigger presumably from the box moving around and the chicks being thrown side to side). Poor things.
