We had to be out of our accommodation by 10. It was such a glorious day (again) and we were packed up early we headed over to Sunderland point. The road is covered twice a day at high tide.

It was very picturesque with the coloured boats lying on the mud - or grass- and the light shimmering on the water.

The tide was turning and coming in and even in the brief time we were there you could see the water rising. As mentioned on 6 March about Morecambe Bay, the rise is around 10 metres. Which is why you get warning notices such as the attached. What look like deep channels and safe routes would be underwater. Still, a lovely peaceful spot.

A last look at Overton with the VE celebrations still very prominent. Then into Lancaster to spend time with the family before heading up the road to a decidedly cooler Edinburgh. We left Lancaster in the mid-20soC and arrived to 16oC which quickly fell to 14oC as the east coast haar rolled in.

It has been a lovely few days’ break. Back to the paperwork in the morning!
