Drying up

I remember when we first came to Feorlean, we were told by Archie McNaughton (who sold the house to us) that the stream which at that time provided our water had never dried up.

We are now on the mains, but the stream does feed the pond and also provides an additional source if there are any problems like the bursts on the pipe from Colintraive which have happened over 20 times in the last five years.   But that is another story.

The run has been very low on a number of occasions but I dont think it has ever been lower than it is today.   There is a drip every few seconds but there is no flow and the little pool below what is normally a waterfall (and which I have blipped in spate more than once) is rapidly evaporating.

The forecast remains for bright sunshine for at least another ten days or so.   It is lovely to experience, but people who rely on private supplies (and there are still quite a few in rural parts of the country including in Argyll) will be getting worried.
