Jambo journal

Skoosh!

I was reading that watering in the evening encourages slugs. Now you tell me, years too late! But in this weather the allotment needs a regular soaking so I toddled along this morning (after the haar lifted) and got busy with the flexi-hose, a great invention that. Wasn’t much else to do; some hoeing, shoring up the tattie shaws, digging in the ash from a recent bonfire. All very relaxing with the sun beating down.
It’s the final home game of the season for the Jambos tomorrow so we brought Wednesday pub night forward a day and wandered along to O’Connors in Canonmills. Went in, came straight back out again - so noisy it’d make your brain burst - so just nipped across the road and had beer and pizza in One Canon. Not sure I could recommend the Chicken Tikka pizza though. Decided to stop into Clark’s Bar on the way home, first visit since it was refurbished and reopened. Definitely not a ‘working man’s’ pub anymore but we had a comfy seat by the window, the staff were friendly, the music was good, they’d three cask ales on tap and the back rooms haven’t really changed that much. Sussed them out as a possible Friday night venue - no surprise, it’s usually heaving!
