An Outdoorsy Kind of Day
I spent the whole day in the sunshine (wearing long-sleeved top, hat and sunglasses of course). We started off at Christine’s holding our house group in her lovely garden. Then the other house group that meets at Jenny’s joined us at midday, and we spread out all our bring-and-share food on the table outside and had a special lunch to bid Charlie ‘au revoir’ before he moves home to Halstead. Hopefully he’ll be able to come to St Luke’s on a Sunday sometimes, and we’re already planning to visit him once he’s settled in. Good highlight has to be the fabulous Victoria sponge cake (with Tiptree strawberry jam) which Linda baked specially for the occasion.
We finally broke up the lunch party at gone 2.30pm, and then I went back with Alison to sit in her garden for another hour or so! As I approached home, I saw that some of the many buds on the yellow climbing rose by my front door are beginning to bloom. So here’s a backblip of a small part of it to give you a little impression. Goodness knows why it does so well, it must be one of the most neglected rose bushes in England!
