Enid Blyton
This is St Mary’s Church Churston Ferrers which we pass walking to Brixham. We stop for a break and sit with permission in the small graveyard. Agatha Christie worshipped here when she was in her holiday mansion at Greenway, and funded a new stained glass window. We had a lively chat with a man looking round the graveyard. His interest was military graves. There are no Commonwealth War Graves here but he did say there was a Major on the left and a Lieutenant Colonel on the right. ‘ And sometime you must go in the church and see Enid Blyton’s window. ‘ ‘oh you mean Agatha Christie’ . ‘Of course,’he said, ‘sorry, I knew it was some old bird, some old girl.’ Agatha’s daughter is buried here so I hope she didn’t hear us.
