Black, Red and White

The weather has taken a turn today - it started overcast and pretty windy. It brightened up by early afternoon but the wind persisted and looks as though it might be with us for a few days to come - not ideal as it is a northeasterly.
We decided to go to Sizewell. Beach. The immediate area is unaffected by the construction of the new power station, but the surrounding area is one gigantic building site. Mr PB went for a walk to the south, whilst I pottered around the area in front of Sizewell A and B (much nicer than it sounds). Many years ago, there were Black Redstarts breeding there, but since we haven’t seen them for some time now, I really hadn’t expected to see them there, so I was thrilled to see a pair. I didn’t manage to get a photo despite waiting around for quite a while, but Mr PB hung around the spot on his return and managed some good views, also dispelling any concerns I had that they’d been a figment of my imagination. The Whitethroat - of which there were quite a few around, were less elusive.
