Otter Bridge
A last lingering look for otters in their favourite spot before I left Morvern and drove to Ardnamurchan. I saw a kingfisher here last night.
Stopping at various places along the way I finally reached Strontian and my lunch in the Ariundle Oakwood alongside the Strontian river.
A road trip to rival the Bealach na Bà on the north coast 500, minus all the tourist traffic, to Loch Doilet at Polloch which flows into Loch Shiel. The end of the road was a little disappointing, a forestry depot, but well worth it for the journey, the road peaking at 400m.
My accommodation tonight is a little idiosyncratic, I was relieved when 2 more cars arrived shortly after I’d checked in. It remains to be seen if we get breakfast tomorrow. That said, there is Wi-Fi, a bath with seemingly limitless hot water and a bedside light.
The extra blip is the view from the wildlife hide on Loch Sunart, a couple of miles down the road from where I have just returned. Seals, a heron, and numerous oyster catchers. No otters.
