side by side...

A rather dramatic past 24 hours here!!  My football team, Southend United, took part in the first play off game last night in the National League and were 3-1 down at Rochdale with 10 minutes to go.... they managed to turn it round and win 4-3 after extra time so we were rather jubilant last night!

And today the sunshine has returned so I've been for a little wander and it was very quiet on the bird front, but there were a few butterflies - and caterpillars! - about so liked this snap of the speckled wood alongside an unknown caterpillar!

And as I was leaving the reserve, I noticed a man and woman looking in the hedges and wondered if they were litter picking, seconds later a little kitten came out of the bush I was walking past so they shouted at me to grab it - thankfully it was very friendly and enjoyed the fuss I gave it and then the people filled me in that they'd seen a woman dumping 3 kittens there this morning - they'd managed to catch 2 and I had found the missing one! Right place at the right time I guess!  So hopefully they are now off to a local rescue centre to get nice homes - I don't even have words for what kind of person could just dump them like that but glad me and the other people could do our good deed of the day!

So much drama!
